Omodos Village Square

A cobbled square in the Troodos wine country, ringed with cafés and centred on the old Timios Stavros monastery. Omodos gets its share of day-trippers but absorbs them gracefully — the side lanes stay quiet, grandmothers still sell arkatena bread and palouzes, and the vineyards around the village make some of the island's best Commandaria. Come for coffee, stay for a long shaded lunch and a tasting.
